Philippine 2012 Holidays

2012 is fast approaching. And what better way to prepare for it is to know the holidays and when is the best time to book for your travels and vacation.

There are 2 types of holidays celebrated in the country, the national holidays which is celebrated nationwide and there is the local holiday pertinent only to demography or location. National holidays are of two types, the regular holidays and the special holidays. The special holidays in the country are the Ninoy Aquino Day, All Saints Day and Last Day of the Year. Some celebrations only gives students a day off like the People Power Day. Of course, there would be some declarations of holidays from time to time from the Malacañang like when the President gives his State of the Nation Address.

Last year, President Noynoy Aquino abolished the celebration of the holiday to the nearest Monday. This has been the practice during former President Arroyo’s term to give Filipinos long weekends. President Noy now wants to celebrate the holiday on the day itself.

  2. Hi! I have posted about Proclamation 295. As per Malacanang, January 2 is not a holiday. Unless Pnoy makes a call, it remains as a regular day.

    See Proclamation 295 here: http://fieldfindings.blogspot.com/2011/12/2012-holidays-in-philippines-as-per.html

    1. Unfortunately, there's has been no declaration for Feb 27, 2012. But Proclamation 295 (see post here http://fieldfindings.blogspot.com/2011/12/2012-holidays-in-philippines-as-per.html) has declared Feb 25, 2012 school holiday in celebration of EDSA 1.

I have asked a friend from the academe regarding Feb 25 and school employees have no work on the said holiday.
