October is Bacolod's festive month. In a few weeks, the streets of my hometown will be filled with locals and tourists alike as we party for the Masskara Festival.

Masskara is a 2-week celebration of abundance and blessings. Masskara is coined by the two words, mass and kara. Mass meaning many or multitudes and kara or a Spanish word for face thus Masskara means a multitude of faces. But for the Bacolodnons, it is not just any face but a smiling face. Because Bacolodnons are gay and smiling people that even amidst the poverty and hardships, we keep a positive outlook in lives.
Join us in the celebration from October 1-19
